Bradley T. Kalkwarf
Brad was born and raised in Oxford, Nebraska and graduated from Oxford High School in 1985. He then attended the University of Nebraska where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1990 and then went on to attend the University of Nebraska College of Law and receive his Juris Doctorate in 1993.





He started his practice of law in 1993 as a solo practitioner under the name of Kalkwarf Law Office and served as the Deputy Saline County Attorney from 1995 until 1997. In 1997, he formed the law partnership of Johnson and Kalkwarf Law Offices when he and Vicky Johnson had the opportunity to purchase the former law firm of Hroch and Horacek. When his law partner was appointed to serve as the District Court Judge for the First Judicial District in 2003, the current law firm of Kalkwarf & Smith Law Offices, LLC was formed. He served as the Deputy Fillmore County Public Defender from 1997-2003 and has been the Fillmore County Public Defender since 2004. He was one of the founding members of the Southeast Nebraska Adult Drug Court and has served as the Defense Attorney from its formation in 2007 until now.
Community Service has always been a priority for Brad, and he has held leadership positions and/or volunteered for the following: NSBA House of Delegates, Wilber-Clatonia School District #82 Board of Education, Crete Area Healthcare Foundation, Wilber Area Chamber of Commerce, Wilber Community Foundation, Wilber-Clatonia Friends of Music, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Wilber Sertoma Club, Wilber Lions Club, Nebraska Czechs of Wilber, Wilber-Clatonia FBLA, Wilber-Clatonia Booster Club, Wilber-Clatonia Schools Teammates Program and Crete Public Schools Teammates Program.
Brad is married to Kelly (Kreshel) Kalkwarf who is originally from Wilber and they have three daughters. Jacqueline is currently a Business Education Teacher at Kearney Public Schools and Thea and Emerson are students at Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools. Kelly is employed by Wilber-Clatonia Schools and serves as the K-12 ELL Coordinator. Brad and Kelly are lucky to live near many of their extended family members and they both have a passion for traveling and enjoying new life experiences which they have passed on to their daughters.
